MISSION STATEMENT

To work across class, cultural and geographic lines in New Orleans to develop a transportation policy for the region that is ecologically sustainable, community-oriented, accessible for a wide diversity of uses, affordable to all residents, efficient and prompt, safe for riders (as well as non-riders), and democratically controlled.

GOALS

1. To stripe bike lanes on any and all streets that would not reduce current traffic capacity, in the context of a cross-town bike route, using federal money available specifically for such projects
2. To equip all or some RTA busses with bike racks
3. To post complete bus schedules at all major bus stops and transfer points
4. To install seating and shelter at all major bus stops and transfer points
5. To organize RTA riders to facilitate self-empowerment and heightened expectations of service and facilities
6. To use the Nagin Transitional Task Force Report on Intermodal Transportation whenever possible and appropriate as an essential policy advocacy tool
