GNOGP COORDINATING COMMITTEE MINUTES OF JUNE 1, 2003 MEETING 1. MEMBERSHIP DRIVE a. Evelyn reported on the membership drive. She has sent Green packets to all GNOGP members. She has also sent phone lists to volunteers who will call prospective members and update the database as they call. She has set a goal of doubling membership by Sept. 1. She noted that our current electoral work was helping increase membership. b. Evelyn said she will soon be leaving New Orleans and thus will have to resign as Membership Coordinator. Steve agreed to serve in an interim capacity until a permanent coordinator can be elected. c. Evelyn suggested a Green Kitchen to introduce people to the GNOGP. Paulette and Steve suggested this be combined with the GNOGP elections social already planned for June 16 at Fair Grinds coffeehouse. This suggestion was approved. 2. CAMPAIGN TRAINING Art reported that Dean Myerson, USGP political coordinator, will conduct a campaign training workshop in New Orleans on Sun., June 29 (time and location TBA). The GNOGP will sponsor this event. It was agreed that the workshop should serve mainly to educate campaign activists about running campaigns and building the GP. 3. ELECTIONS COMMITTEE Paulette and Steve reported on Election Committee activities and plans. They noted the enthusiasm being shown by Greens and others at running progressive candidates in the fall elections. Two new members at the meeting reflected this enthusiasm. Dan, a resident of Plaquemines Parish, expressed interest in either running himself or supporting GP candidates. And Sean offered to help the candidates with his expertise in web design and graphics.
