GNOGP: Minutes

WATER FOR ALL CAMPAIGN: Sara Alexander from Water
for All was in attendance to speak about her
organization's opposition to privatization of New
Orleans' water supply. Motion to endorse the
Water for All campaign passed unanimously. Cheryl
Easton to act as liason between GNOGP and Water
for All. GNOGP membership list to be called,
informed about the issue, urged to support
anti-privatization efforts.

OFFICE SPACE: As noted in minutes of last general
membership meeting, we are to move out of the Palm
St. office by Sept. 30. Other office options are
being actively considered. Office Coordinator
John Kearney, who has been charged with the task
of procuring new office space, will provide a
recommendation to the general membership at some
point in the 3 months or so, and the decision will
be put to a vote.

Carpenter announced that the LAGP CC is
tentatively scheduled to meet on Saturday, October
19. GNOGP will need to nominate and elect a State
CC rep to attend the meeting. Nomination and
election of state CC rep to take place at next
general membership meeting.

FINANCES: Art Carpenter reports that we are now
$675 in arrears for rent.

OTHER ISSUES: John Clark stated that the
difficulties the GNOGP has had in meeting rent
expense are the result of our not putting more
energy into developing the organization's
membership. The following strategies for
increasing membership were discussed:

--Putting out a newsletter on a regular basis. To
be discussed at the next general membership
meeting; member interest on working on this
project will be solicited.

--Having a speaker and film series. John Clark to
speak to Loyola Greens about doing this.

--Creating postcards with Green info on one side,
GNOGP mailing address on the other, for new member
registration. Evelyn Goss & Bart Everson to
create text and design for the postcards.

Because of conflicts with other events, the next
general membership meeting will be held one week
earlier than usual, on Saturday, September 21 at
11 am.
