Please note that the Greater New Orleans Green Party ceased operations after the floods of 2005. A new group is being organized in 2016 under the name Green Party of New Orleans. GNOGP: Minutes

MINUTES: GNOGP Coordinating Committee Meeting Wed. Oct. 24, 2001

Present: Malik Rahim, Daniel "DJ" Pate, Art Carpenter, Bart Everson,
Steve Godfrey, Jason Neville, John Clark

[The meeting began late because of an unexpected (but most welcome)
visit from Robert Steward and Frank Johnson of the Gert Town Revival
Initiative. Contact information and meeting times were exchanged, and
hopefully our two groups will be seeing more of each other in the
future.]

STANDARD MEETING TIME:

The Coordinating Committee will meet on the second and fourth Sunday of
each month. On the second Sunday, the CC will meet at 3:30, before the
5:00 general meeting. On the fourth Sunday, the CC will meet at 5:00.

Nevertheless, the next meeting of the CC will be on Sunday Nov. 4th at
5:00 PM.

LIVING WAGE:

Art will coordinate the preparation of a two sided flyer. It will
promote the living wage ballot initiative on one side and general GNOGP
info on the other.

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING:

DJ will get information for GNOGP members who would like to do after
school tutoring in Gert Town.

THE WALL:

Ideas for more decorations to the outside wall of the warehouse were
discussed.

WEBSITE:

Bart has put up a simple GNOGP website at http://green.rox.com/ More
discussion is needed on exactly what the party wants in a website.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH:

Malik wants permission to organize in public housing projects on behalf
of the GNOGP and to try to get a ballot initiative (requires 10,000
signatures) regarding alternatives to incarceration for simple drug
possession and other nonviolent offenses. Volunteers will be solicited
at next general meeting (even if Malik can't attend).

CAMPAIGN:

The living wage flyer (above) could become our first piece of campaign
literature.

CONSTITUTION:

CC members should review the current draft of our constitution, make
notes for improvements, discuss it at the next CC meeting, and submit
copies to the next general meeting (Nov. 11). The constitution should
be put to a vote at the December general meeting.

GREEN KITCHEN:

It is likely that there will be a Green Kitchen at the office at 6:30 PM
on Sunday (Oct. 28).

ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING:

Constitution, website, campaign, living wage flyer
