GNOGP: Minutes

GNOGP Coordinating Committee
May 27, 2001

Attendance: Daisy Berbert (observer), Daniel Pate (member), Art Carpenter
(member), Pete Gollnick (member), John Clark (member), Jason Neville (member)

The minutes were read and accepted, and the Treasurer's report presented
(as of May 26, 2001, the balance is $228.46)

Old Business:

1.	Elections Committee report- Jason Neville reported that the EC has
begun considering candidates for the Feb 2002 election and developing a
platform. The EC has written letters to membership asking them to contact
the EC with names of individuals or organizations who are interested in
running as candidates or who would like to get involved in synthesizing a
progressive Green platform. A letter to progressive independent organizations
asking the same was also written. Both letters were reviewed by the
Coordinating Committee, slight changes made, and approved unanimously.

2.	French Quarter Recycling Project- Jason Neville reported that he had
contacted the Sanitation Committee chairperson Cynthia Willard-Lewis
(committee that awards recycling contract) to ascertain the next committee
meeting. None has been scheduled, but her office will call Jason when it is
scheduled. Also mentioned that he has been contacted by Recycling Advisory
Committee.

3.	Membership Report: Daniel Pate suggests flyering for GNOGP awareness.

New Business:

1.	Bulleting/Newsletter: John Clark distributes copies of old Delta Greens
newsletter. Jason suggests having a two sided mailout with committee info,
meeting times, recent changes and other brief announcements. John suggests
going for a folded newspaper style. Committee agrees that any publication
should include calendar/upcoming events, committee meeting times/contacts and
a donation envelope/membership form. John and Daniel to talk with Tonya
Jordan (in Shreveport) and Richard McCarthy (editor of Delta Greens pubs.)

2.	Committee Structure: Committee agrees that committee system needs
re-structuring. Art suggests that some committee functions are indispensable
(such as outreach and fundraising). Jason suggests that we have contacts for
those roles, but no committees. Motion to dissolve all committees except
membership and elections carries without objection. Group establishes contacts
for outreach (Art Carpenter), fundraising (Pete Gollnick), and office (Daisy
Berbert).

3.	Next Coordinating Committee meeting scheduled for June 10th, 7PM @ John
Clark's office: Stallings 125 (Loyola University Campus, 6363 St. Charles Ave.)

4.	Next General Meeting: none scheduled until we can get office ready.
John suggests that General Meetings should be more cultural than business-
oriented (perhaps an announcement period followed by music, dance, film).
