GNOGP MEMBERSHIP MEETING 7 NOV. 2004 Present: Camilla, John K., Gerard, Brad M., Brad O., Steve G., Art Guest: Malcolm 1. TREASURER'S REPORT: Last May 15 treasury had $935.90. Since then we've received $50 and spent $552.29. That leaves a current balance of $433.61. 2. DOOR-TO-DOOR OUTREACH: Steve suggested we consider doing door-to-door campaigns in various neighborhoods. Brad O. suggested Steve begin discussion by introducing proposal on listserv. Steve agreed and asked anyone interested in such work to contact him. 3. VACANT OFFICER POSITIONS: * It was noted that the GNOGP currently has only three officer positions filled--treasurer (Art), elections coordinator (Leenie), and tabling coordinator (Alejandro). * Nominations were then made and accepted for the following positions--secretary (John K.), fundraiser (Camilla), and education coordinator (Brad M.). Elections for those positions will be held at the next membership meeting. * John K. explained that his ability to serve as secretary depended on Sun. meetings starting at 7:00pm because of his work schedule. * It was noted that we especially need a membership coordinator. John K. and Art agreed to work as interim coordinator until that position could be filled. 4. ADAM WILSON'S CANDIDACY: * Discussion about Adam's campaign for the special election on Dec. 4 for district 4 of the state senate. Motion: The GNOGP endorses Adam Wilson's campaign for the state senate. Passed (6-0-0) * Discussion about reimbursing Jason for paying Adam's qualifying fee. Motion: The GNOGP will reimburse Jason contingent on the campaign treasurer first seeking to raise funds elsewhere for that purpose. Passed (6-0-0) 5. NEXT MEETING: Decided that next membership meeting will be Sun., Dec. 5 at 7:00pm. Camilla agreed to find a meeting site. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS: (1) Adam Wilson campaign meets on Wed., Nov. 10 at 7pm at Jason's (312 S. Cortez); (2) Gillespie Breakfast on Sat., Nov. 13, 9:30am-12noon at Unitarian Church, 2903 Jefferson Ave.; Dave Capasso speaking on "hijacked democracy" & recent election; (3) Jeff Moebus will have 911 truth action project cable show--Thursdays, 6pm, Channel 77; (4) Treme Toxic Campaign--next meeting Mon., Nov. 8, 7pm at St. Augustine Church at 1220 Gov. Nicholls; (5) Antiwar demo (US Hands off Fallujah) on Fri., Nov. 12, 4:30pm-6:30pm at corner of Canal & Convention Center streets.
