Minutes of GNOGP General Membership Meeting 7/6/03

I.  Consideration of Candidates

GNOGP members voted to endorse the following candidates: 

. CC Campbell-Rock for the Board of Elementary and Secondary 
  Education, District 2.
. Renee Washington for Jefferson Parish Sheriff
. Jason Neville for State Senate: District 3 (French
. Dan Thompson for State House of Representatives District 105
  (parts of Plaquemines, Lafourche, and Jefferson Parishes) 
. Les Evenchick for State House of Representatives District 93 
  (French Quarter/Marigny)

Due to candidate David Novak's absence, a motion was passed to
defer his endorsement consideration until the next general membership 
meeting.  Steve Godfrey to contact Mr. Novak.

II.  Reports

III.  New Business 

. Northshore Green Lance Jackson had expressed interest in editing
  a GNO Greens newsletter.  Steve Godfrey, tabling coordinator John 
  Kearney to consult with Lance about this.  Further action on this 
  item tabled until next General Membership meeting.

The following individuals were nominated to positions as GNOGP 
Coordinators and will serve in their respective positions on an 
interim basis until elections take place at the next General 
Membership meeting on July 20:
. Steve Godfrey: Elections Coordinator
. Jennette Ginsburg: Membership Coordinator

The following motions were passed:
. GNOGP to join the NO CAFTA coalition 
. Debbie McManus, Joe Wagner elected as representatives to the 

IV.  Announcements

. Christian Roselund put out a call for submissions to the New 
  Orleans Indymedia site ( ) 

. Ben Gordon announced that there will be a demonstration at 
  Mississippi's Stennis Space Center on July 16 from 3:30 to 5:00
  PM.  Components for the Strategic Defense (sic) Initiative (a/k/a
  "Star Wars") program are manufactured at Stennis.  For 
  information/transportation, call Pax Christi at 522-3751.

. Steve Godfrey created a GNOGP Elections events calendar/mailing 
  list which can be accessed at . Brad Mayeux is in
  communication with people from Jim Hightower's Rolling Thunder Tour
  regarding a possible Rolling Thunder stop in New Orleans. 
  Mr. Mayeux will keep GNOGP apprised of any developments.
