GNOGP General Meeting

I.      Introductions/Sign-In/Silence/Key Value (none)
II.     Acceptance of Agenda/Minutes/ Facilitator
                - next meeting January 7, 2001, 7PM
III.    Treasurer's Report, hat passed ($34 raised)
IV.     Announcements
        - St. Thomas 'redevelopment' update
          - motion to call St. Thomas Residents Council 
            to pledge solidiarity; carries
        - Prof Robert Pollin Jan 4th 6:30 3700 Canal St.
V.      Committee Reports
        - office- (none)
        - membership- database up and running (in good position
          for membership drive,  though there is some concern 
          that process should precede membership development);
          drive should include phone calls, etc but also encouraging 
          members to invite people themselves;
        - outreach- literature gathering for tables, etc; 
          films at Loyola in early January (1/9 7PM)
        - campus- (none)
        - elections- search helpful but unsuccessful thus far; 
          contacted groups in NO East; suggestions to contact
          Rev. Brown and Pat Swilling;
        - media- need to 're-start' media commitee: get Greens
          on local political talkshows to get people used to
          hearing Green perspectives; submitting in newspapers
          Green responses to local events
        - fundraising- 11 or 26 donors have given checks to the 
          GNOGP; calls to the rest to be made this week;
        - motion to empower Mike to purchase stamps to send
          donation mailings; carries
        - organization- close to completion of tentative constitution
          (Sat 30th 4PM @ small Rue)
        - cool ideas- 3 proposals: 1) to address the people that
          would like to be involved in a meeting sense-- 'The Green
           Team'; 2) community-group liason, send recognizable
VI.     Old Business

        Living Wage- motion that the GNOGP should support the ACORN-led 
        coalition for a living wage and that the Secretary should submit
        form with official pledge; caution about possibility of HTR
        Industry subverting the initiative with thier own 'non-living'
        wage; concerns about living wage negatively affecting other
        classes and not the corporations (7 yeas, 0 neas, 3 abstentions)
        carries

        Bart's Six-Point Plan- motion to table vote on six-point plan;
        carries

VI.     New Business

Outstanding Motions carried:

1.  To call St. Thomas Residents Council to pledge solidarity in thier
    struggle for affordable housing.
2.  To empower Mike to purchase stamps to send donation mailings.
3.  To contact and to support the ACORN-led  coalition for a living wage
    and that the Secretary should submit form with official pledge
