MINUTES: Greater New Orleans Greens, abbreviated business meeting

October 15, 2000
Meeting commenced approx. 7:05 PM with 5 people in attendance

Mike Kaplan facilitated.
Bart Everson volunteered to be guest secretary.

OLD BUSINESS: 

none

NEW BUSINESS: 

Paul Nielsen (Outreach): door-to-door canvassing for Nader campaign
        going well, lots of unexpected support for Nader; 
        more canvassing next weekend; they are not asking for money
        and are mentioning the GNOG in passing

Art Carpenter (Outreach): economics forum is being organized for
        two weeks from now (exact date yet to be determined);
        Jeff Moebus and Judd Jeansonne to be main speakers;
        subject of forum is Green economic platform

Mike Kaplan (Media): there will be a press release related to 
        economics forum

Mike Kaplan (Facilitator): reminds us that this abbreviated meeting 
        is for business decisions and not committee reports

Les Evenchick (Membership): Betsy Mathews has been incurring personal
        expense to mail letter soliciting membership in Green Party
        of Louisiana; Les suggests that GNOG could pay Betsy for her 
        next mailing since the state organization seems to be having
        a number of difficulties

Bart Everson (State Representative): will bring this up at meeting of 
        state coordinating committee... if it ever meets...

Les Evenchick: Motion to give Betsy Mathews $80 and request 
        reimbursement from Green Party of Louisiana

After some discussion, Les reformulates: Motion to give Betsy Mathews
        $80 for membership expenses.

Vote: Yea (8) Nay (0) Abstain (1) -- Motion passes.

Mike Kaplan (Fundraising): need to send out fundraising letter to 
        approximately 100 people (new contacts gathered by GNOG and 
        people who have already contributed) in local area only

Les Evenchick: Motion to approve up to $100 for local fundraising letter

Vote: Yea (11) Nay (0) Abstain (2)

Art Carpenter (Treasurer): submits report; balance $493.89; 
        passes sacred plastic baggie for collection -- $47 raised

Meeting adjourned approx. 8:00 PM with 14 people in attendance
